Orly Airport in Paris is another major aviation center. Opened initially for military purposes in 1932, Orly airport of about 15 km provides for air services to Europe, Africa, Caribbean and Middle East. Le Bourget Airport is located at about 12 km of Paris city. Starting its commercial operations in 1919 it however remained restricted to hosting only chartered air services and air shows after 1980.
